07 Oct NewsNYCRAMA Announces 2014 Student Scholarship Winner
The New York Capital Region chapter of the American Marketing Association (NYCRAMA) is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Sydney from SUNY New Paltz is the winner of NYCRAMA's annual $1,000 Student Scholarship marketing competition.
The Student Scholarship is awarded by NYCRAMA to an individual student or group of students for exceptional work in completing a marketing plan. Previous winners have been from University at Albany, Siena College and SUNY New Paltz. The 2014 award will be presented at the June 18, 2014 NYCRAMA luncheon.
Elizabeth's plan was developed on behalf of Hershey's "Take 5" chocolate bar. Her plan outlined a thorough understanding of Hershey's marketing objectives for "Take 5," and provided key recommendations for increasing its brand awareness and appreciation among key customer target audiences – thus helping to increase overall sales.
"Throughout college, students are given the tools to create marketing plans but do not necessarily have real world experience in utilizing those tools," said Elizabeth. "The AMA Hershey 'Take 5' Case Competition allowed me the opportunity to apply my knowledge and develop my skills, and the NYCRAMA Scholarship recognition has helped reinforce my determination for future success."
Elizabeth will graduate from SUNY Paltz in May 2014 with a bachelor's degree in marketing communications. She will then enter into New Paltz's MBA program as a graduate student.
