Storytelling in marketing seems to be on everyone’s lips at the moment as brands like Guinness, Apple, Nike, and Google successfully harness the power of stories to drive the development of content that resonates with the audience, delivers engagement, and increases mindshare. People have been telling stories for years, but marketers need a new skill set that enables them to create compelling stories. These stories should help convey the personality of the brand, make an emotional appeal to the audience, and keep the audience coming back for more.

About the Speakers
The session brings together two experts in the field of storytelling in marketing: Mary Darcy and Alyssa McClenning.

Mary Darcy is an award winning radio/television/web content producer. She is the winner of American Women in Radio and Television’s Gracie Allen award for “Herstory,” a public radio series narrated by Star Trek’s Kate Mulgrew. For eight years Mary wrote, produced, and hosted the nationally syndicated radio program “51%.” She and Greg Dahlmann created, wrote, produced, and hosted the public radio program, “The Weekly Rundown.” Mary’s public television documentary, “No Ordinary Lives” was a local companion to Ken Burns’ “The War.” “No Ordinary Lives” was the recipient of the New York State Broadcasters Award for best documentary. Alyssa McClenning is the Chief Storyteller for The MACSFIELDNOTES Creative Co. in Saratoga Springs. She cut her teeth in traditional communications and grew her career alongside the boom of digital platforms, having worked for Zone 5, SPAC, and as the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Saratgoga County Propsperity Partnership. From personable pitches to social media marketing, visual content and writing, Alyssa loves the art of storytelling. As for her proverbial professional cherry on top? She particuarly specializes in storytelling for organizations who make citizenship and social investment a priority. Alyssa believes that if you have a product, service, or idea, people need to know about it and she works with clients to develop, deliver, and measure strategic storytelling initiatives. Services include content creation, public relations, media relations, speechwriting, strategic planning, public speaker training, and digital media/social media workshops.
